We inspected Vista when she was in Sydney in April 2026. Depending on season, you can find her in Europe, North America or the Caribbean.
Quick Verdict
Best For: Food lovers, experienced cruisers, travellers seeking a relaxed premium experience.
Not Ideal For: Families with young children or travellers looking for high-energy attractions.
Oceania Vista delivers a refined and highly polished onboard experience, with a strong emphasis on exceptional dining, service and comfort. It sits comfortably above mainstream cruise lines, offering a boutique-style atmosphere with fewer crowds, more space and consistently high-quality inclusions, particularly for travellers who value culinary experiences and destination immersion.
What we Loved
- Dining is genuinely a standout, with a noticeable step-up in quality across all venues
- The ship feels calm, spacious and uncrowded, even during peak times
- Service is attentive and polished without being overly formal
- Public spaces are elegant, modern and comfortable
- Strong focus on destination-led cruising rather than onboard distractions
Things to Know
- This is a relaxed, experience-led ship, there are no waterslides, large-scale production shows or high-energy attractions
- The onboard atmosphere is more subdued, particularly in the evenings
- Dining is central to the experience, so expect to spend time enjoying meals rather than rushing through activities
- The price point reflects a more premium offering compared to mainstream cruise lines
- The experience is geared toward adult travellers
- While specialty dining is included, popular restaurants may require reservations in advance
Ship Overview
Oceania Vista is the first ship in Oceania’s new generation of vessels, bringing an evolution of the brand’s core strengths:
- Industry-leading culinary focus
- Modern, elegant design throughout
- More spacious public areas and refined layouts
- High crew-to-guest ratio for enhanced service
The ship maintains a smaller, boutique feel, designed to deliver a more intimate and personalised cruise experience compared to larger vessels.
Cabins
Cabins on Oceania Vista are among the most spacious in their category:
- Standard veranda cabins are larger than those on many mainstream ships
- All accommodation feels premium, with high-quality finishes and thoughtful design
- Suites provide access to additional benefits, more space and elevated service
Overall: consistently high-quality accommodation with a noticeable step up in comfort
We inspected a range of cabins and were impressed by the modern and clean aesthetic. The Oceania R Class ships are lovely, but the Allura class is a noticeable step up across the entire ship, including the cabins.
Dining
Dining is the defining feature of Oceania Vista:
- Multiple high-quality restaurants, all included in the fare
- Strong focus on fresh ingredients and culinary variety
- Specialty restaurants deliver a true fine-dining experience without additional cost
Tip: Book preferred dining times early, especially on sea days
We didn’t have time to dine on this inspection but we’ve eaten onboard Oceania in the past. The dining rooms were elegant and modern, and overall had a great feel to them. Vista has a couple of private dining spaces that fit groups up to 10. For an extended family or group travelling together these could offer a unique onboard experience. Oceania has built a reputation based around food and we’re confident that Allura would please any food focused cruiser.
Entertainment
- Entertainment is low-key compared to larger ships
- Includes live music, enrichment and smaller-scale shows
- Designed to complement the relaxed onboard atmosphere rather than dominate it
Overall Onboard Experience
- Quiet, uncrowded and highly comfortable
- Minimal queues and easy flow throughout the ship
- Ideal for travellers who prefer relaxation, conversation and immersive destinations
The outdoor space and pool area was a highlight, particularly given the size of the ship. The spa was very attractive and while Oceania is typically desintation focused it wouldn’t be hard to make the most of a sea day or inclement weather. We loved the library, it’s a genuine effort with a broad range of content compared to some shipboard libraries which can appear as an afterthought. We were also impressed with the cooking school / education room. Given the food focus of Oceania, it’s great to see that extend to skills building as well as indulging.
Who This Ship Is Best For
Ideal for:
- Couples and adult travellers
- Food and wine enthusiasts
- Experienced cruisers looking for a step up in quality
- Travellers prioritising destinations and overall experience
Less suited for:
- Families with under 18 children
- Travellers seeking entertainment-driven ships
- Guests wanting ultra-luxury all-inclusive experiences
Final Verdict
Oceania Vista delivers a premium cruise experience built around exceptional dining, refined service and a relaxed onboard atmosphere. For Australian travellers looking to elevate their cruise holiday, particularly those who value food, comfort and destinations, Vista represents one of the strongest options in the upper premium segment without stepping fully into ultra-luxury pricing.
