A-ROSA is a European river cruise company, head quartered in Germany. A-ROSA currently operates 12 ships across the Danube, Rhine/Main/Moselle, Seine, Rhône/Saône and Douro, offering city and nature tours as well as curated themed itineraries. A-ROSA’s relaxed onboard atmosphere suits guests looking for a contemporary no fuss experience offering flexibility and choice.
The ambience on board of A-ROSA is influenced by our heritage and broad passenger mix. Many of our guests come from Germany and other European countries. Being true veterans of European river cruising, our in-depth destination knowledge allows us to craft itineraries that blend spectacular cultural attractions with hidden gems.
Our voyages range from 3 to 16 nights, providing the perfect choice for guests looking for short breaks, as an add-on to any European holiday, and for river cruising enthusiasts interested in comprehensive itineraries.
A-ROSA is an ideal fit for independent travellers of all ages seeking a river cruise that offers its guests the freedom and flexibility to do as much or as little as they please.
We offer guided shore excursions, covering different levels of activity and interest, but guests are also invited to embark on their own adventure, exploring cities and destinations by themselves. Our central berthing locations in the hearts of some of Europe’s finest cities and flexible mealtimes allow guests to maximise their time ashore.
A-ROSA’s focus on wellness and fitness certainly appeals to the active minded, and families and multi-generational travellers are attracted by A-ROSA’s kids travel for free policy.*
The supplement for solo travellers can be as low as 10% and increases to a maximum of 40%, depending on seasonality. This makes an A-ROSA river cruise a great option for guests travelling by themselves or for groups of friends, who prefer not to share a cabin.
*as part of the Premium-All-Inclusive rate and if the child is accompanied by a full fare paying adult and only valid for the cruise portion of the journey. Except Douro sailings, where a 25% child discount applies.
A-ROSA offers two cruise tariff-types: Premium-All-Inclusive and Basic.
A-ROSA Basic is a tactical offer, only available last minute and on selected departures.
The Premium-All-Inclusive offering is our most popular tariff, due to its unmatched inclusions:
*as part of the Premium-All-Inclusive rate and if the child is accompanied by a full fare paying adult and only valid for the cruise portion of the journey. Except Douro sailings, where a 25% child discount applies.
The facilities onboard of A-ROSA’s ships include outdoor grill stations, bars, lounges and restaurants in a contemporary environment.
There is also always either a pool or whirlpool on board.
The vessels are also equipped with a board shop, beauty & massage centre, gym, panorama sauna, relaxation area and outdoor features such as putting green, shuffleboard and giant chess.
The relaxed and informal atmosphere onboard of A-ROSA’s ships is reflected in the buffet-style dining concept for all meals, as part of the Premium-Package. During restaurant opening hours guests can dine at their leisure and indulge in culinary delights and local specialities. Unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, such as speciality coffees, are available throughout the day at no additional cost.
A-ROSA’s nationality mix is broad. Naturally, there are German guests and many passengers from neighbouring countries, but also travellers from further afield. It’s not unusual to hear a variety of well-known and maybe not so common languages onboard of our ships.
The average age of guests differs depending on seasonality and itinerary. Shorter city itineraries are often frequented by younger couples and groups of friends wishing to spend quality time together. Exploring diverse cities and their distinct cultural highlights and engaging in shopping sprees are two popular activities.
During school holidays and the Christmas season A-ROSA attracts a higher share of families and multi-generational travellers.

Gourmet meals are served buffet style in our restaurants, with live cooking stations, where meals are prepared fresh and to each guest’s liking, reflecting the local cuisine of the regions we visit.
On most sailings we also offer served multi-course dining experiences with paired wines, at a surcharge, and separated from the main dining room. Inspired by the rivers we sail on, we invite guests to explore culinary delights from Portugal, France, Austria, Hungary and classics along the Rhine.
A-ROSA currently operates a fleet of 12 ships on the Danube, Rhine/Main/Moselle, Rhône/Saône, Seine and Douro.
Fairly similar in size, A-ROSA’s fleet accommodates between 174 and 206 passengers (86-100 cabins), except on the Douro in Portugal, with 63 cabins and a capacity of 126 passengers on A-ROSA Alva.
A complete overview of the ships including deck plans, cabin layout and 360˚ panorama views is available here.
All A-ROSA ships were built in Germany (except for A-ROSA Alva), ensuring the highest level of quality, while adopting environmentally friendly construction concepts and the latest safety standards. Our ships emit less noise and vibrations due to their design, and each one is specifically built around the size of the river, offering an exceptional space-passenger ratio.
In recognition of the growing number of international guests, wishing to experience our premium high-quality product, A-ROSA introduced bi-lingual (English and German) cruises, currently available on seven ships.
The official language on the other ships is German, but the crews speak English also. International guests are welcome on the non-international ships too. However, they need to be advised that passengers onboard of these departures are almost exclusively from German speaking countries, which is also reflected in the onboard experience.
The international fleet consists of the following vessels:
Note: The international ships may change from season to season. International departures are clearly marked on our website, the trade extranet and A-ROSA brochures.
All cabins onboard of A-ROSA ships are outside with river views.
Our lead-in cabins are on deck 1 (grades S, A) and feature a window. Some S-and A category cabins sleep 3 passengers and G-grade accommodates four guests (only on A-ROSA Flora).
Except on the Douro, where the ship is equipped with drop-down Panorama windows, all other vessels have Juliette Balconies on deck 2. The cabin grade on deck 2 is C across the fleet, in a 2-bed configuration.
Deck 3 accommodates different cabin types, all catering for 2 guests per cabin.
Cabin types range from Panorama windows on A-ROSA Donna (grade B), over drop-down Panorama-windows on A-ROSA Alva (grade D) and Juliette-Balconies on the other ships (also category D). Suites of up to 29m² can be found on A-ROSA Flora, Silva and Alva, either with Juliette-Balcony (grade E) or with larger balcony, fitted with table and chairs (grade F).
Scheduled for delivery in May 2021, we will debut our ground-breaking new ‘E-Motion’ ship. The, yet to be named, vessel will sail on the Rhine and feature 12 family cabins (28m²) that sleep five people, 7 balcony suites (26m²) and 119 generous 21m² standard cabins. All suites and standard cabins
